Sometimes the universe drops a tiny kitten right into your path.

A loud little cry coming from a pile of bushes turned into an unexpected kitten rescue. Hidden inside the greenery was a tiny three-month-old kitten calling out as loudly as he could. Once found, it didn't take long to realize this little guy wasn't shy at all. Within an hour he was already rolling around, showing his belly, and happily accepting attention and food like he'd known people his whole life.

At first it seemed pawsible that the mama cat might still be nearby. He looked healthy and well-fed, so the kitten was gently returned to the area where he was found in case she came back for him. But hours later, after returning to check, the situation looked very different. The kitten was still there, hiding inside a drainpipe, crying and now covered in ants. There was still no sign of a mother or any other cats.

That moment made the decision easy. The little guy was brought back home, where he immediately settled in and quickly started bonding with his rescuer. According to the vet, kittens around that age can sometimes be left on their own by their mothers. Still, this particular kitten seems far too friendly and affectionate to be out fending for himself.

For now, he's safe, playful, and clearly enjoying hooman company. The next step is finding the purrfect permanent home for him. Until then, he's getting plenty of care and attention and it's pretty clear he's already making himself right at home.

One lick, two lick, three lick, cat meme!

What's your favorite type of candy? Are you a chocolate fiend, trying to get your hands on a Hershey's or Kiss? Maybe you love caramel, and you go crazy for Milky Ways or Snickers. Maybe you're a Mike and Ike's type, where you just want something in bright, lurid colors and chewy on your palate. But there are some who prefer lollipops. They love to savor the flavors, like to take their time with the things they enjoy, like to feel the sugar rush bit by bit. And cats are kind of like that, too. There's something inherently sweet about cats. They're like little dolls with their big eyes, their tiny pink noses and bustling whiskers bursting from their face. Imagine your little cat just perched on top of a lollipop waiting for you to bite them and eat them up! It's a new love language, just in case you didn't know about it.

These syrupy sweet kitties evoke the same sensations that a purrfectly swirled pile of cotton candy does, with heaps of reds and blues, they're the purrfect thing for a Saturday scroll. What is there to do on the weekend in mere winter? It may be bright outside, but it's still brisk, chilly, and it's much more comforting to stay inside and think of things sweet, tasty, wholesome, and purrfectly cat-like. The soft fur of a cat, the big curious eyes, the playful antics are all associated with sweetness, and that's why I Can Has Cheezburger has put together this sweet list just for you. Enjoy!

When you hear a kitten in need, you go running.

You hear meowing, the meowing gets louder and louder. You hear from the same area some kids, they're laughing and their laughter mirrors the yells of the cat. There's only one thing to do: to go see what all the commotion is about. This kind person saw some kids with a little innocent, helpless orange kitten. He immediately took her, knowing the kids aren't responsible enough to help. He takes her home, and though he can't have a cat right now, and even with his aunt creating a fuss over the cat, he still manages to nurse the kitten back to health. He gave her a bath, and the two have been together since. She's been sleeping most of the time, probably recovering from all the chaos. His best friend is a vet, so he's following her educated instructions on how to care for the cat until he can find her a furrever home. He's a really good guy.

Some people can be so cruel. When we're young, we don't have the mature mindsets we achieve as adults. Sometimes we do things we don't mean, and we're less attached to humanity. When we get older, we hopefully gain the insight to be sweet, gentle, kind, and understanding. The kids in the story obviously don't have the insight or maturity to handle seeing a helpless animal without helping it. Who knows what they did, but all we know is that the kitten was saved by this kind human.

Happy Saturday!

I'm going to be doing a little maintenance today. It will likely cause a tiny interruption of service (specifically for www.dreamwidth.org) on the order of 2-3 minutes while some settings propagate. If you're on a journal page, that should still work throughout!

If it doesn't work, the rollback plan is pretty quick, I'm just toggling a setting on how traffic gets to the site. I'll update this post if something goes wrong, but don't anticipate any interruption to be longer than 10 minutes even in a rollback situation.

Cat names are all kinds of comical, but they pale in comparison to the names their pawrents actually call them. And in this collection of cute cats we expose those hissterical nicknames thanks to their pawrents.

It is quite the feline phenomenon to have a nickname in the animal kingdom. After all, most other pets do not really have nicknames, and most of the animals in the world do not even have hooman names. So for cats to have several monikers by which they are known is truly special. But what is so delightfully funny about these nicknames is that they are usually born of the cat's quirks and curiosities. For example it would not be out of place for a cat who particularly enjoys picking food scraps out of the trash to be given the nickname 'Trash Baby'.

So strap in for a whole heap of gems like that with this collection of cute cats with curious names as exposed by their pawrents. All we can say is that it is a good thing that cats are yet to master the English language…

Sometimes just a few cats aren't enough.

That's true for both Crazy Cat Ladies and for cat memes connoisseurs online - a small number of cats is never enough. As cat people, we all know the truth that burns inside us all like holy flame - cats are the best, and the more of them the better. That's why, just as the Crazy Cat Lady next door is collecting cats as if her house can host so much floofy feline energy without collapsing into a black hole of cuteness, we feel the need to consume a very long list of cat memes. Because even cats on the internet are never enough.

And you know that this job is ours. We actually take a lot of pride here at the I Can Has Cheezburger HQ in bringing cat lovers worldwide the best curated cat content online. And this one? Well, friends and feline fanatics, it's made for exactly when just a few cat memes aren't enough. Get ready to dive and scroll through a long list of cat cuteness!

Cat law is cat law, and every cat pawrent knows to obey their floofy feline overlords who rule their lives with an iron paw.

Some cats enact really weird laws in their domestic house kingdoms: Don't throw away the chewed-up single sock, it's a prized possession. Don't make loud noises when the cat naps on the couch, or else he'll bite. Give exactly three belly rubs, no more, no less. Even cat has their own crazed set of rules, and we as cat pawrents just sort of accept it. But some of these royal feline decrees are set in stone, and are always true for all cats worldwide.

One of them is "never disturb the cat's nap". The nap is sacred. The nap is pure bliss. The cat must nap uninterrupted. And that's exactly why it's so common for cat pawrents everywhere to get "stuck" when their feline friends decide to take a holy nap on their chest or lap. This one woman hilariously asked the online feline family if there's anything to do in this situation that she's in - only to be reminded that… no.

If cats could talk, most of them would probably spend their time filing formal complaints about their humans. From unnecessary cuddles to questionable life choices (like buying the wrong treats), these felines have simply had enough. The 24 cats in this list are serving pure, unfiltered judgment… side-eye included. Scroll through and enjoy the tiny, furious faces of cats who are clearly tired of their humans' nonsense. Honestly, the attitude is almost impressive. One look at these grumpy faces and you just know their humans are about to hear about it.

[&amp;_a]:link"><p>Photo Credit: Brooke Palmer/Paramount+</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </post-hero> <div class="wp-block-more-from-category"> <div> </div> </div> <p>Apologies for the dramatic headline, but the situation surrounding <em>Starfleet Academy</em>&#8216;s second season is too odd to discuss without having to acknowledge that the second season exists (or at least will exist). While it&#8217;s hardly unusual for fans to wonder if a show will be renewed at <a href="https://reactormag.com/tv-review-star-trek-starfleet-academy-rubincon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the end of a season</a>, the bizarre thing about <em>Starfleet Academy</em> is that we&#8217;ve known for quite some time that it has been renewed. Yet, an increasingly popular narrative continues to suggest that the sometimes divisive series is effectively finished.</p> <p>With that in mind, let&#8217;s take a better look at how that rumor got started, where <em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2 stands, and what we know about it. </p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">No, <em>Starfleet Academy</em> is Not Cancelled</h3> <p><em>Starfleet Academy</em> has not been cancelled, though you may have heard otherwise recently. Since <em>Starfleet Academy</em> premiered, outlets, influencers, and the simply misinformed have been spreading a rumor that <em>Starfleet Academy </em>will be a one-and-done show. Mind you, we&#8217;ve known about <em>Starfleet Academy</em>&#8216;s second season <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/starfleet-academy-season-2-renewal-tatiana-maslany-guest-star-season-1-1236035779/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">since 2024</a>. So what gives?</p> <p>That rumor can be attributed to a couple of things. The first is what you may call trolling but what is in reality something much more vicious. <em>Starfleet Academy</em> has long been the target of hate groups, spiteful so-called fans, and other parties who have tried to suggest that <em>Starfleet Academy</em> is bad because it is “woke,” promotes DEI, etc. etc. Unfortunately, you probably know exactly what and who I’m talking about, even if I will not be sharing those statements here. And while <em>Starfleet Academy</em> is certainly not immune from (and has faced much) creative criticism, the false narrative of its cancellation is being driven by bad operators.</p> <p>The second cause of the confusion is a bit more innocent. TrekMovie <a href="https://trekmovie.com/2026/03/03/for-the-first-time-in-over-a-decade-no-star-trek-tv-is-in-production-or-greenlit/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recently reported</a> that, for the first time in over a decade, there are no <em>Star Trek</em> shows in active development. That is to say that there are no <em>Star Trek</em> TV series either actively being shot or waiting to begin production (though Paramount has confirmed that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are developing an idea for <a href="https://reactormag.com/new-star-trek-movie-dungeons-dragons-honor-among-thieves-directors/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a new <em>Star Trek</em> movie</a>). You also have to keep in mind that <em>Strange New Worlds</em>’ final season and <em>Starfleet Academy</em>’s second season have already been shot, so neither of those count.</p> <p>That article has been misinterpreted by some who have taken it to mean that Paramount has effectively shut <em>Star Trek</em> down. The news has also been misrepresented in some headlines that sensationalize the scope of that announcement or otherwise deliberately twisted by those pushing the “<em>Starfleet Academy</em> is cancelled” narrative. While we are almost certainly entering a new era of <em>Star Trek</em>, and we still do not know if <em>Starfleet Academy</em> will be renewed for a third season, reports that the series has been outright cancelled are simply not true at this time.</p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <div style="height:0px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">When Did <em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2 Wrap Filming?</h3> <p><em>Starfleet Academy </em>season 2 wrapped filming the week of February 22, with <a href="https://blog.trekcore.com/2026/02/star-trek-starfleet-academy-wraps-filming-on-season-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">various cast members</a> confirming that they had shot their final scenes around that time. Interestingly, the show’s second season wrapped production almost exactly one year after <em>Starfleet Academy</em>’s first season wrapped. </p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">How Many Episodes Are in <em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2?</h3> <p><em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2 will consist of 10 episodes. That is, of course, the same number of episodes that the show’s first season got and the same number of episodes that <em>Strange New Worlds</em> received in each of its three seasons.</p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">When Is <em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2&#8217;s Release Date?</h3> <p>There is no official word regarding <em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2&#8217;s release date at this time. However, the release cycle of recent <em>Star Trek</em> shows relative to when their filming wraps suggests that it will either be released in late 2026 or early 2027. Given that <em>Strange New Worlds</em> season 4 is set to be released <a href="https://reactormag.com/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-seasons-4-5-fewer-one-off-episodes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sometime in 2026</a>, a 2027 release for <em>Starfleet Academy</em> feels like the safest bet.</p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Who is in the <em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2 Cast?</h3> <p>Alex Kurtzman <a href="https://www.tvinsider.com/1251104/star-trek-starfleet-academy-season-1-finale-ending-explained-nus-arrested/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">has confirmed</a> that the show plans to bring back pretty much every major recurring actor from <em>Starfleet Academy</em>&#8216;s first season in season 2. That includes Holly Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Karim Diane, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, Robert Picardo, and most of the other major students and instructors who have formed the show’s core cast.</p> <p>We did recently learn about two notable exceptions to that rule, though. According to Alex Kurtzman, Nus (Paul Giamatti) and Anisha (Tatiana Maslany) <a href="https://reactormag.com/starfleet-academy-nus-anisha-wont-return-season-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">will not return</a> for <em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2. Kurtzman explains that while the <em>Starfleet Academy</em> team still has stories to tell for each of those characters, they ultimately didn&#8217;t have a way to fit those stories into the show&#8217;s second season. He hopes both will return for the show&#8217;s third season should it be renewed. </p> <p>On that note, Alex Kurtzman has also said that there is a <a href="https://screenrant.com/star-trek-starfleet-academy-four-year-plan-new-cadets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">four-season plan </a>in mind for <em>Starfleet Academy</em> (one for each year the students spend in school). So while we don&#8217;t know that the series will run for that long, statements regarding its future from a plot perspective carry a bit more weight since there have clearly been discussions about the series&#8217; overall narrative. </p> <p>Furthermore, <em>Starfleet Academy co-</em>showrunner Noga Landau has stated that they will be <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/starfleet-academy-showrunner-teases-season-2-the-dynamics-you-thought-were-going-to-be-one-way-forever-start-to-slowly-shift-star-trek" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">adding new recruits</a> to the season two cast as well as new instructors. Mary Wiseman and members of the Starfleet Academy crew have expressed interest in <a href="https://reactormag.com/why-starfleet-academy-used-our-town-mary-wiseman-tilly/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tilly returning to the show</a>, though it’s not clear if that’s wishful thinking or a hint at a season 2 storyline. Some of the creative team members have also expressed interest in bringing on a few notable names who just didn’t quite fit into season 1, though details on those names are frustratingly vague.</p> <p>Behind the scenes, Jonathan Frakes (who directed <em>Starfleet Academy</em>’s excellent eighth episode) has confirmed that he is not shooting any new <em>Star Trek</em> episodes at the moment and will not be directing any season 2 episodes.</p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2&#8217;s Ending Will Not Double as a Possible Series Finale</h3> <p>While <em>Starfleet Academy </em>season 3 is very much up in the air at the moment, many of the show’s cast members have expressed hope that the series will continue. While it would be truly shocking to hear any of the show’s cast members say that they think the series is dead in the water at this point, that message of optimism has remained consistent.</p> <p>One of the most interesting statements along those lines came from showrunner Noga Landau. In an interview <a href="https://trekmovie.com/2026/02/27/exclusive-star-trek-starfleet-academy-eps-talk-shocking-season-2-finale-series-future/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">with TrekMovie</a>, Landau was asked whether or not they had filmed <em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2’s finale in a way that would let it serve as a “soft” series finale should the show not be renewed. This is what Landau said:</p> <p>“Absolutely not. We have so much story to tell. If anything – yeah, it is not the end… It’s such a shocking ending, you do not want it to [end] – no, no!”</p> <p>While it may seem like a self-fulfilling prophecy to shoot a soft series finale in case you don’t get renewed, you may recall that recent <em>Star Trek</em> shows (<em>Strange New Worlds </em>and <em>Lower Decks</em>) have utilized that tactic. According to Landau, though, ending <em>Starfleet Academy</em>&#8216;s second season on a bit of a cliffhanger just felt like the natural direction the story was heading in, so they didn&#8217;t want to interrupt that by planning for the worst and offering something slightly more definitive. </p> <div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Various Little Details About <em>Starfleet Academy</em> Season 2’s Plot</h3> <p>Unsurprisingly, the <em>Starfleet Academy</em> cast is staying (mostly) quiet about the most substantial plot details for the show’s second season (aside from what we know about the format of its ending). However, here are some of the more notable tidbits we have learned about what to expect in the second season:</p> <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Bella Shepard told TrekMovie that <em>Starfleet Academy</em>’s core cast of cadets will <a href="https://trekmovie.com/2026/02/24/star-trek-starfleet-academy-cast-says-goodbye-as-second-season-wraps/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">have a “deeper” relationship</a> with each other in season 2 that reflects how “tight-knit” they have become after the events of season 1. With the aforementioned arrival of new cadets in the second season, that could suggest some possible friction between the different classes with the current recruits now reaching sophomore status.</li> <li>Kerrice Brooks and George Hawkins <a href="https://collider.com/star-trek-starfleet-academy-season-2-update-best-episodes-most-difficult-to-film-exciting-george-hawkins-sandro-rosta-kerrice-brooks/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">told <em>Collider</em></a> that Episode 4 of season 2 was their favorite of the season so far, with Brooks referring to the episode as “iconic.” Brooks added that episode 5 of that season pushed her to her “absolute traumatic limits” and that the season’s first episode involved a lot of stunt work.</li> <li>Noga Landau <a href="https://trekmovie.com/2026/03/12/interview-star-trek-starfleet-academy-showrunners-talk-season-finale-messages-tease-season-2-villain/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">has said</a> that <em>Starfleet Academy</em> season 2&#8217;s villain is &#8220;not just a person&#8221; and is &#8220;more an impossible dilemma that we find ourselves in as Starfleet.&#8221; That would seem to suggest some kind of incredible scenario or internal strife, though your guesses are as good as ours.</li> <li>Landau also mentioned that the War College will continue to be part of the show and may even <a href="https://screenrant.com/star-trek-starfleet-academy-season-2-explained/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">play a bigger role</a> in the stories to come. </li> <li>Executive producer Olatunde Osunsanmi says that season 2&#8217;s episodes will <a href="https://trekmovie.com/2026/03/11/interview-starfleet-academy-director-talks-whats-new-for-season-2-and-why-hes-optimistic-about-season-3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">follow the same basic structure</a> we saw in the show&#8217;s debut season. Kurtzman elaborated on that point in a separate interview by explaining that <em>Starfleet Academy</em> will largely follow a serialized story structure but will feature some &#8220;really big concept episodes.&#8221;</li> <li>Kurtzman has <a href="https://www.tvinsider.com/1251104/star-trek-starfleet-academy-season-1-finale-ending-explained-nus-arrested/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">also said</a> that season 2 will reveal more about Nahla than we saw in the first season, which includes an appearance from some of her family members. </li> </ul> <p>That&#8217;s the most significant information we&#8217;ve learned so far, though we will keep you updated about the future of the series as more information becomes available. [end-mark]</p> <p></p> <p>The post <a href="https://reactormag.com/starfleet-academy-season-2-details/">Yes, There Will Be a &lt;i&gt;Starfleet Academy&lt;/i&gt; Season 2. It takes a special kind of purrson to adopt a senior cat, but it wouldn't take more than a glance for anyone to see how special 'Pudge', the 18-year-old cat, was.

Adopting senior kitties is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you can do as a cat lover. It's hard because you know that you will fall in love and have your heart broken before you know it, but as Shakespeare once said, "It's better to have loved and have lost than to never have loved at all".

The older they get, the less chance they have of getting adopted, too. For the exact reasons we said earlier, most people don't want to adopt a cat for a year or two, they want as much time with them as they can. It's totally understandable, but that also means that most senior cats end their lives alone in an animal shelter, and that's the least fair thing we can think of.

Pudge was able to escape that unfair reality. Found by happenstance online, one cat mom and her husband took one look at this 18-year-old baby and couldn't say no. He had been kept in a cage his whole life (don't even get us started), but they decided to adopt him and give him the best last months of his life. Well, two months turned into three, three turned into six, and six months turned into a year. Pudge lived. He played. He ate steak, and ice cream.

Pudge's story makes us believe that the love and heartbreak is worth it to see how much a new beginning can change even the oldest cat's life. They deserve it, and so do you.

A cat lived to 29-years-old, which is around 135 in human years, making this feline the most cherished, celebrated, and emotionally uplifting scragglemuffin around; while cat lovers gather to ogle at this purrecious feline miracle, they only wish that their own beloved pet at home could live half as long. Perhaps it's time to whip out the Fancy Feast, the cans of pure tuna, and give your cat the infinite affection glitch of love that they absolutely deserve.
